New ‘Y: the Last Man’ Trailer Drops More Clues About the Series
This new trailer gives us a closer look at the world after the majority of the world’s men drop dead.

A new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated TV adaptation of the comic book Y: The Last Man came out on Friday. It gave us a closer look at our characters’ personalities and a few other possible clues as to what we can expect from the series.
The most exciting thing, for me, was seeing the women of Marrisville. We can all agree that’s who we’re seeing here, right? It’s likely that the woman on the right is Lydia, the town’s leader. In the comic, the townswomen are actually prisoners from a nearby prison. They were released by the female guards after the mass death event, and settled nearby.

The town is functioning much more efficiently than most other places. They have electricity and hydroponic gardens, which would explain how Yorick is stuffing his face. Marrisville is an important spot in the comic storyline: the townswomen rehabilitate a number of Amazons, including Hero, and the town serves as a safe haven for other characters later on in the series.

The other great gift this trailer gives us? Yorick and 355 showing their personalities. While we don’t exactly get any of their playful back-and-forths, we get a perfect snapshot of the shiftless goofball we know and love and the difficulty three-fifty will face trying to keep his butt alive.

We also get a clear shot of her with the collapsable baton, and y’all… I got chills.

Another standout clip has to be the rats. Two unknown characters are standing on the hood of a car as a whole bunch of rats run by. Now, on the one hand, a bunch of rats running can indicate that they’re running from something. It could also reference a resurgence of the Y chromosome. Near the end of the comic, we spot some rats in New York, even though rats, because of their short lifespan, were supposed to have died off already.

Next, we’ve got a gang of horse-riding ladies, one of which appears to be cutting down a tent. We don’t get a lot of groups on horseback in the comic, other than the Colorado cowgirls that appear in volume 4 who mistake the Yorick and the gang for Amazons. Then again, these ladies could just be Amazons. Destruction of property certainly fits the Amazon bill.
Or are these the Amazons?! Maybe. But they could just be really, really mad about the state of the world. Because that’s valid. For the record, I watched a few times and I couldn’t confirm any signs of breast-removal, but to no official avail. And the Amazons removing a breast might not necessarily make it into the TV adaptation anyway.

We also see these three motorcyclists, and at one point in the comic Yorick and 355 land motorcycles, and later trade them for space in a train car. Is this our central clone-crew hitting the highway?
Still, the teaser gave us more questions…
The crashing plane that flies over Yorick’s head reminded me of the cosmonaut crash in the comics. That storyline seems like more of a stretch for a TV adaptation, but nonetheless, the plane did make me wonder.
And who is this woman? It looks like she’s on top of an emergency vehicle of some sort, and she’s clearly very upset.

And this scene, which could mean any number of things. Are these American soldiers, Israeli soldiers, Amazons, or some other group entirely?
The teaser is definitely a mash-up of the new and the familiar, and the show looks like it will bring the source material into the modern-day with a number of surprises, new perspectives, and new faces. Is it September yet?
