D&D: Take A Look At WizKids’ New Framework Minis
WizKids has unveiled a preview of their new Framework series of miniatures–new sprue-based D&D minis that will let you custom build your monsters.
Here at BoLS, we know a thing or two about how good it feels to clip a mini off of the sprue, take its constituent parts, and assemble them together (usually while supergluing your thumb to some inconvenient part of the model in the process). Building models, painting models, or even just collecting heaps of sprues with the hopes that one day you’ll have the time and energy to do so is what drives games like Warhammer 40K.
And WizKids hopes to bring that energy to Dungeons & Dragons with their new Framework miniatures.
Unveiled earlier this year, Framework minis are “sprue-based” D&D miniatures that allow you to customize your models to suit your table’s needs. Want to have more than just a single goblin model on your tabletop? Frameworks is your answer.
They even have built in diegetic numbering bits–so like you can put one crystal on a minis base to indicate this is Kobold 1, and then two more crystals and so on…
In short, these miniatures seem like exactly what D&D needs. More complexity and customization literally right out of the box. And today WizKids has previewed their Frameworks miniatures. We got a look at different kobold kits, as pictured above.
As well as some various orc kits, seen below.
These come with a variety of options, which will doubtless be familiar to players of other games where building miniatures off of sprues is the daily practice. But you can really get a look at just how broad the customization is here. This orc comes with three different heads and four different arms allowing you to create a combo that’s perfectly suited to the encounter you’re planning.
Frameworks miniatures will be available starting in November 2021.
Happy Adventuring!
