Age of Sigmar: The New Stormcast Chariot and Knight-Judicator Rules Preview
Games Workshop is showcasing the new rules for the the Knight-Judicator and the new Stormstrike Chariot. Check these out!
The Stormcast Eternals are getting enough new units with their new Battletome to make up an entire army (or just about). That said, GW is pulling the covers off of two of the new units and we’re going to get a closer look at their rules today. Up first, meet the new Stormstrike Chariot!
Stormstrike Chariot
“These fast, tough units can be crewed with warriors armed with Great Stormbows for a solid ranged attack, making them ideal harassment units. “
Well GW certainly isn’t wrong about that! With a 12″ move along with a strong armor save and 12 wounds this unit is going to take some dedicated attention to bring down. Furthermore, it’s packing a range 18″ threat in the form of the Great Stormbow. While it’s damage output isn’t crazy with the bow, it still allows for this unit to move and fire and pick off any pesky characters that might have gotten exposed. But it’s real power comes from the charge. Not only does this chariot give opponents -1 to hit them when it charges, it also has some gnarly impact hits, too. And then you get to deal with the Gryph-chargers and the rider’s close combat attacks. Brutal.
I could certainly see a few of these pop-up in Stormcast Eternal lists – provided the points costs weren’t too crazy. We’ll have to wait and see but the Chariot is looking like a pretty tough harasser unit!
Knight-Judicator
“This one-man (and two-Gryph) artillery piece is a potent Hero. Any enemy that makes the mistake of ignoring him in favour of bigger units is in for a nasty surprise or two. “
Stat-wise, this new character has stats similar to other Stormcast heroes. However, what makes him stand out is the impressive Terminus Greatbow – he lives up to the “single man artillery piece” vibe. With two shots each capable of doing 3 damage, that’s enough to threaten most infantry characters at a 30″ range! And if you’re looking to finish off a larger threat, that extra 6 damage could come in real handy. With -3 rend, this guy is no joke. And then there’s the Gaze of Sigmar ability which just causes D3 mortal wounds to each enemy unit with 6″ of a point on a 4+.
And don’t forget to setup the Gryph-hounds which are included in his rules as well. They will make for a nice screener unit and will also cause problems for your opponent.
Get ready for these new units to unleash the Wrath of Sigmar on the tabletop!
