D&D: Vecna Gets A Funko Pop Redesign
Remember Vecna? He’s back in Funko PoP! form. That’s right, the legendary one-eyed, one-handed evil lich god is now a fun desktop toy.
There’s nobody evil the way Vecna is evil. Named for Jack Vance, who inspired the magic system of Dungeons & Dragons, Vecna has been many things–archlich, demigod, actual deity of secrets and evil. Now he’s back, in Funko PoP! form,
That’s right, the new line of Funko figures takes the legendary lich and gives him new life as a plastic desktop toy, joining classic D&D figures like Minsc and Boo or Asmodeus in tiny body-big-headed life.
Only now, it seems, that Vecna has had something of a redesigned look. When last we saw him, he looked a little something like this:
Or maybe this:
But this new Funko PoP! Vecna looks a bit different. As spotted on the GameStop page, this Vecna is large and in charge and wearing royal purple. He looks almost alien, but not quite, and seems to be missing a trademark eye (maybe), though his hand is still sticking around.
Most Funko POP! figures are loving, if stylized, recreations of their subjects, which has led some to wonder if Vecna wasn’t going to be getting a new look for 5th Edition. To date, he hasn’t actually appeared in any of the adventures. He’s only been described and hinted at.
And of course, Vecna’s famously evil eye and evil had have been the ruin of many a campaign–and one of them is (or was) canonically in the possession of Arkhan the Cruel, who stole the artifact from Critical Role so good it became official in Descent into Avernus.
It’s possible that this Vecna design is just an interpretation, but we might be seeing a return of the demigod of deception and secrets soon enough. For now, you can pre-order Vecna’s figure on GameStop.
