The Dragon of Icespire Peak is one of our favorite D&D starter adventures. As part of the D&D Essentials kit, it’s a newbie friendly adventure that will get you quickly running or playing the game. As we’ve mentioned before, it’s fairly iconic D&D stuff.
The Essentials experience in general is one of the better new player boxes out there. It gets you hopping right into the game and feeling out the rules as quickly as you can manage.
And now, players all over will have a chance to try out the adventure. An abridged version of the Dragon of Icespire Peak is available for free from Wizards of the Coast:

Seriously this is some of the most helpful stuff for a fledgling DM who might not know any better. Being able to say “when it doubt, you can make it up” but also “hey you can modify the adventure also” is sure to help lessen that initial learning curve.
