Necromunda: Ash Wastes – Exploring The Next Chapter
Games Workshop talks Necromunda: Ash Wastes and they’ve got some BIG plans for the next chapter of Necromunda.
The announcement that GW is expanding the “world” of Necromunda beyond the Hive Spires is exciting stuff. Necromunda: Ash Wastes is taking the fight for survival to the “toxic, rad-scoured landscape” that is the internet outside the safety of Hive Primus. I’m already prepping my gangers for this one and it looks like Games Workshop has some impressive plans for beyond thunderdome the Hive.
The Next Chapter In Necromunda
“This toxic, rad-scoured landscape is too expansive to fit into a single book. In fact, the wastes are so vast we’re introducing them with a massive new boxed set, which will be followed soon after by a whole series of books exploring the factions that battle across the wastes. “
That’s right folks, Games Workshop is planning some big moves with this game. They even made a handy graphic to tease it out:
I’m counting the big box, at least 3 books and 2 more “smaller” boxes. But these are just images of possible releases. What did they actually say was coming? Lots of stuff. You should probably read the full interview with Andy Hoare but here’s the basic info:
- New Boxed Set
- “A whole series of books”
- “New Factions to play”
- New Terrain
- New Vehicles
I’m hoping for a convoy truck or two!
Beyond The Outlands
That all sounds great! The original Necromunda did have their own Outlanders expansion that introduced quite a few factions and expanded the lore beyond the Hive. But the Ash Wastes sounds like it’s diving into a whole new area of the planet. One that’s never been mined for gameplay content. That means a whole “new” setting in this existing game and that’s exciting news.
“Below is a small portion of the vast map we put together while we developed the setting. We’ll zoom in and describe some of these places in the future, but for now, here’s a look at the Palatine Cluster – the centre of which is, of course, Hive Primus.”
That’s where we’re heading folks. Beyond the hive.
Soon enough your gangs will be moving beyond the Hives into the vast desert wasteland. Are you ready for the next chapter in Necromunda?
