Grand Theft Auto 6 Announced by Rockstar Games
After nearly a decade of fans playing and modding Grand Theft Auto 5, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been announced.
Rockstar Games announced on Twitter they are currently in active development of “a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series”. This is huge for video game fans in general, but huger for Grand Theft Auto fans.
Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.

At this point, we know basically nothing. But this Grand Theft Auto 6 announcement is getting everyone hyped. Fans have been milking every last mod out of Grand Theft Auto 5 since its original release in 2013. And that’s not counting the many other editions of the game they’ve released.
If we take the same timeline as we saw for Grand Theft Auto 5, we can expect to be waiting a while yet. Grand Theft Auto 5 was officially announced in October 2011. Then, a trailer was released a month later. However, the game wouldn’t see a release until 2013.
We might be waiting for a little longer for any sort of teaser trailer. But, Rockstar is at least giving us something. If we follow the same timeline from this Grand Theft Auto 6 announcement, expect something within the next couple of months.
Wild Speculation
Given the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s probably a safe bet Rockstar will take a lot of cues from that. And with the rise in popularity of open-world games like Halo: Infinite and Pokémon Legends: Arceus it’s not hard to anticipate a lot of the same sort of foundational gameplay elements there.
It would be pretty wild if the game changed very drastically. But at the same time, there should be some changes to keep fans entertained.
