Warhammer 40K: Wraithknights Are About To Make Big Comeback
The Aeldari Wraithknight is getting some love in the upcoming Aeldari Codex. The Big Guy is back with the fury of the sun!
When the edition changed and Strength D weapons went away the Wraithknight took a pretty big hit. The use of these Aeldari Knights dropped dramatically and it’s been awhile since folks had a solid reason to take them in their lists. That’s about to change in the new codex.
“Wraithknights are massive constructs that tower over even the Wraithlords, but unlike their smaller cousins, they contain a living pilot.* They’ve always been powerhouses in games of Warhammer 40,000, but now they’ve been taken to the next level.”
What changed with these massive constructs? Let’s talk Defensive changes first.
Wraithknights now take 1 less damage from attacks down to a minimum of 1. All those D2 weapons out there will now just do 1 damage. That should help especially combined with it’s new Invulnerable save.
And if you’ve been a long time fan of the Scattershield option don’t fret. The invulnerable save for that has been bumped up to a 4+ now. You won’t need to choose between offense and defense with the new Wraithknights. But speaking of offense…
The Titanic Ghostglaive now has some options when attacking with it. Perfect for slamming single targets or taking on a unit. It should make fairly quick work of anything caught in its wake. But one gun has us particularly excited to try out.
The Suncannon always had a bit of a weird role from the last major version. Now, it’s going to be ideal for taking out those pesky elite enemy units. Custodes in particular are really going to hate this version of the gun. At 48″ it can also strike down lots of vehicles as well making this a double threat. With a potential max damage of 36 the Suncannon can theoretically drop a Knight in a perfect round of shooting. Alternatively, it should be able to take out most other vehicles fairly reliably.
We’re glad to see these massive constructs get some attention. We can’t wait to see how they impact the meta with the new Aeldari Codex!
