Warhammer 40K: How Big Is The New Avatar of Khaine Anyhow?

The new Avatar of Khaine model is a fantastic and we can’t wait to get our hands on one. Now we are wondering just how big this model will be.

Games Workshop has been hyping up the arrival of the new Avatar of Khaine model. We’re pumped, too. But one question has lingered ever since it showed up on the scene: How big will this model be? We’ve gotten some glimpses of its base and also some shots of it next to some Aeldari Models. So let’s throw them together and take a look.

Avatar With Friends

This shot is a pretty good one to start with. It’s the Avatar right in the middle of the new Aeldari Guardians. You’ve even got a few around it’s base. The only problem is we’re not 100% sure which size base that is anymore because those are the *new* Plastic Guardians.

Those could be the old 25mm bases…but they don’t look like it. And unfortunately, while this is a great group shot, it’s not super helpful in terms of having a solid starting point. Anything older that we’re more familiar with is in the background and thanks to camera trickery and clever positioning it’s too hard to tell.

The one thing we do know is that the Base isn’t a huge oval. In fact it the Avatar’s base does appear to be more inline with something like the Redemptor Dreadnought’s base size.

Perhaps a little larger…but in any case, we need more evidence!

The Avatar Among Enemies

Here’s an interesting shot of the Avatar basically in base-to-base with some Tyranid Termagants. Now, again, due to the perspective it’s a little hard to tell. But we do know the base size of the Termagants and we know the size of the Trygon. Not counting the spear the Avatar is about the same height. That’s good to know.

This is another great shot. It’s from the Games Workshop article about where they have the Avatar steam roll a bunch of different things. What’s great about this shot is we have a Chaos Space Marine who’s in base-to-base with the Avatar and another that’s to the side and it’s basically parallel. This gives us a better indication of the base and the height.

We know the CSMs are on 32mm bases. And we know the approximate height of a CSM, too.

Using our super high-tech MS Paint shot skills we can see that the Avatar is about the height of 3 Chaos Space Marines stacked on top of each other. And yes, we cut off the horns just for the sake of a better idea of the height. If it was perfectly lined up, the Plume would be slightly taller than 3 Marines stacked.

So the Avatar isn’t as big as a Wraithknight but it’s much larger than the previous version. It’s certainly bigger than a Wraithlord. Height-wise, it’s about as tall as a Trygon but with a base closer to a Redemptor Dreadnought.

We’re excited to see what this model ends up looking like when we get to add one to our collection. The next question is…which options to use when we build one!?
