Warhammer 40K: 5 Aeldari Units We’re Still Not Sure About
The Aeldari Codex is coming to pre-order next week and there are still a few units in the book we’re going in blind about.
Games Workshop has been teasing out a ton of previews from the Aeldari Codex for the past few weeks and we’ve gotten a pretty clear picture on them. However, there are still a handful of units we’re not 100% sure about. So let’s focus on those known unknowns from the new book.
Crimson Hunters
We know they aren’t getting the Aspect Armor save because it’s a jet fighter. At the same time we’re curious about the vehicle and if any major changes happened to it. We’re sure it’s going to be super fast and we know the Aeldari Armory got an upgrade. We’re expecting it to pack a punch, too. But what happens when those expectations meet reality? We’ll find out!
Falcon
The Classic workhorse multi-purpose grav-tank of the Aeldari. We know there are more than a few of these floating around out there and are wondering if it’s gotten any major reworks. Or maybe it’s just floating right along mostly unchanged. Well, except for the weapon profiles of course. In the Falcon’s case, no news might be good news in the sense that it’s probably still got a transport capacity and access to a variety of weapon systems. Will it make a push to return to the tabletop? Maybe a special rule or two can help deliver its payload when it needs to.
Vypers
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Vypers. Again, aside from the armory updates, we don’t know if anything major is changing for this unit. I don’t know what else GW could really change to make them better. A special rule for more speed? A better stat profile? Cheaper? There are directions they could go for the Vypers. We’ll have to see where GW takes them.
Wraithlord
Oh the Wraithlord. It’s basically the Aeldari Dreadnought, right? There was a time when they were terrors on the tabletop and even today they can pack a lot of firepower in that frame. However, they just never quite made it to the big time. With the Armory improvements I’m curious about it. I think Games Workshop mentioned that Wraithbone Form might also apply to it as well:
So maybe we’re not 100% blind on this unit…but will that be enough to make it worth taking?
Striking Scorpions
I’ve always felt that the Striking Scorpions were in competition for the same spots as the Howling Banshees. They fill a similar role in that both are deadly close-combat specialists. I’m wondering how GW is going to make them different than the Banshees now that all Aspect Warriors have that invulnerable save.
I’m betting the Striking Scorpions got some extra bite with their weapon systems. Maybe they will be worth a look as well.
