Atomic Mass Games sent us some of the latest Marvel Crisis Protocol kits. Come take a look at Colossus and crew unboxed!

Marvel Crisis Protocol is one of those games that I’ve been amazed by since it was announced. The models look great, the rules are fast and fun, and the terrain kits are some of my favorite out there. If you’ve ever wanted to throw down with your favorite batch of heroes in a miniatures skirmish game that’s exactly what MCP is.

So when Atomic Mass Games sent us some products to check out I jumped at the chance. In this batch of goodies we got 3 different kits: the Crashed Sentinel Terrain Pack, Colossus & Magik, and X-23 & Honey Badger.

The Crashed Sentinel Terrain Pack

This terrain pack is great! One of the things I really like about MCP’s terrain is the cars and buildings. They look like real world places and vehicles — which makes sense. This is a game where comic book characters are fighting in the streets, right? And these things are supposed to look  familiar to us all.

The box itself doesn’t come with instructions on how to assemble things. But you can follow the QR code or just go to the Atomic Mass Games website and download the instructions. All the sprues come in a plastic bag, too. I’m going to be saving those bags for bits later (or recycling them if I don’t need them).

In total, it’s 3 of the larger sprues, 2 smaller sprues and the car assembly with some extra doodads. I really want to get this put together because I’m a fan of this style of terrain. Also, the Sentinel bits are pretty cool! Size wise, the Sentinel isn’t as large as I thought it would be — more size comparison below.

X-23 & Honey Badger

This is another fun kit. X-23 and Honey Badger are basically clones of Wolverine. I’m not going to get into all the details because …comics. The point is they are affiliated with the X-Men and have Wolverine-like abilities.

It’s a simple kit overall. It’s only two sprues and 4 bases with all their cards and tokens you need to use them in the game. What’s really impressive are the claws on these models as they are so thin! It makes sense as the scale is what it is and everything should match. Those claws do make me a little nervous due to transportation but I’ll make due. I’m glad to have these models as an option in the game now.

Colossus & Magik

If you’re a casual X-Men fan you’re probably familiar with Colossus. However, you might not be familiar with his sister Magik. Again, I’m not going to get into all of that here because…comics. You know what Colossus does. As for Magik, let’s just say she’s got magical portal powers and a really big sword.

Model-wise, again, it’s a pretty simple kit. It comes with a single sprue, 4 regular sized bases and 2 larger/medium bases for Colossus. You also get the cards for both characters to use in the game. And yes, there is a special action card for when you’re running Colossus and Wolverine — Fastball Special. And it’s exactly what you think it is!

Sentinel Scale?

One of the things you might notice is the scale of Colossus to the Sentinel. The fact that he’s hoisting a ripped off arm from the Sentinel gives us a pretty good idea of the scale of both. And since I had both kits I figured we should see what they look like together:

The short answer is that, yes, everything is the same scale. the only missed opportunity here is that both arms are left arms. If AMG had sculpted one and left and one as right, I’m positive that folks would have attempted to convert those bits into a full sized Sentinel. Speaking of which…AMG, where’s that Sentinel kit at!? That’s gotta be in the works, right? RIGHT?!

All of these kits are either available now or up for pre-orders. Snag them for your own collection!
