Games Workshop Rumor Engine: ‘Tip of the Spear’
It looks like someone is about to get poked with the pointy end. Check out the tip of this fancy spear.
Sometimes the Rumor Engines are pretty hard to decipher. Sometimes they are straight to the point. This particular Rumor Engine looks like it’s the more direct type. Check it out:
“We’re still slapping more buttons on the Rumour Engine – you wouldn’t believe how complex a fortune-telling machine from the future is – and we just found one labelled ‘tip’. Maybe that’s what we’ll get?”
That sure looks like a spear with a grenade attached. What sort of a unit would use such a thing?
Oh. Oh right! The Rough Riders were famous for their weaponry. And their horses. But also because they were big fans of charging into the fray with their Hunting Lances — which were lances with frag grenades inside.
It’s looking like they might be getting a re-work with an updated model! Let’s hope so…
Then again, it could be a completely different unit. I’m sure there is another crazy unit in the Grimdark that would use a bomb-lance or frag-spear or whatever else you want to call it. Those weapons are a good way to make a point and punctuate it with a BOOM.
The Rough Rider Spear design is a lot different in the older art. So it’s not a guaranteed match. But if they are in line for a Glow-Up and redesign it might just fit! If you’ve got other ideas we’d love to see them in the comments. That’s the fun the Rumor Engine afterall.
