Someone Beat Elden Ring In Under 18 minutes.
It will take you longer to watch the speedrun video than the speedrun itself took. Watch Distortion2 beat Elden Ring in 17:43.
If you’ve been grinding face first against the bosses of the Lands Between, hoping against hope to become powerful enough to cheese your way past, then this video might be cathartic. Distortion2 sets the current world record for Elden Ring completion in a masterful run that ends in 17 minutes and 43 seconds.
It will take you longer to watch the whole video than the run did. Why? Because not every moment counts against the run–and Distortion2 shows off some of the credits.
Most of the run is accomplished via “zips.” This is a popular term for a common glitch. The zip glitch warps your character forward under certain circumstances. When blocking with a weapon and tapping directions in at about 3 inputs per second, characters will teleport.
Some speedrunners have taken to using autohotkey tools to help enable the glitch. Zipping allows characters to bypass huge sections of the map, teleporting rapidly across the Lands Between.
Do you miss out on secrets? Sure. Do you not get killed by Dragons? Also sure. It can take a bit of getting used to when watching one of these speedruns. And notably, all of these are only possible in version 1.02 right now. As of Patch 1.03 the zip glitch has been removed. But speedrunners aren’t afraid to use an old build to finish a game faster than ever.
Take a look for yourself! Maybe you can finally get some closure and get back to riding Torrent around the Lands Between:
