Netflix’s ‘The Sandman’ – Neil Gaiman Answers Fans About Lack of New Trailer
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten news about Netflix’s The Sandman. Neil Gaiman has some marketing ideas.
Netflix’s The Sandman is one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The comic combines modern myth and dark fantasy. It weaves contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend into an amazing story about the Dream King as he fixes the cosmic errors he’s made over his long lifetime. The show is going to be unlike the other fantasy series coming out this year – it is far from traditional.
The series starts with Roderick Burgess and a ritual.
“You watch Episode 1 and think, ‘Oh, I get this thing: it’s like Downton Abbey, but with magic. Then you’ll be wondering, ‘What the hell is this?’ by Episode 2, when you’re meeting Gregory The Gargoyle in The Dreaming. Episode 5 is about as dark and traumatic as anything is ever gonna get, then you’ve got Episode 6, which is probably the most feel-good of all the episodes.”

That wasn’t followed up by a trailer or new images, which left a lot of fans feeling cheated and wanting answers. Neil Gaiman has answered them in one fell swoop of brilliant sarcasm.

There’s some worry, given what’s going on with Netflix right now, about series that are in production. Filming for The Sandman wrapped last August, so they’re deep into post by now. We will get more when we get more. The show is set to be a big part of Netflix’s Geeked Week this summer. Hopefully, that’s soon. Fans have been waiting decades for an on-screen adaptation. I guess we can wait a little longer.
Netflix’s Sandman Cast & Crew
Neil Gaiman and David Goyer (The Dark Knight) are executive producers. Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) as showrunner and head writer. The giant ensemble cast includes the Endless – Tom Sturridge as Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Donna Preston as Despair, Donna Preston as Despair, and Mason Alexander Park (who is non-binary just like their character) as Desire.
Sandman premieres on Netflix later this year.
