There are hundreds if not thousands of lightsabers and all of them are awesome. It’s hard to choose, but these are some of our favorites.

Lightsabers are cool. No matter what generation of Star Wars we grew up with, we’ve all swung around a stick or a plastic Lightsaber in the toy store aisle while making the “brrrrrr” sound with our mouths. There are countless Lightsabers out there in the canon, every one of them a little different and reflects the personality of its wielder. All of them are pretty cool, but these are a few of our favorites.

Kylo’s Crossguard Lightsaber

You don’t have to like Kylo or even the sequel trilogy to recognize that this is a great Lightsaber design. A cracked Kyber crystal creates a unique design among lightsabers with a crossguard. Historically, crossguards are incredibly useful parts of swords, and having one on your Lightsaber makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately the cracked crystal that cerates Kylo’s also makes the weapon unstable. Thematically, this is a good choice for a character this unstable and conflicted. But practically, it makes for a uniquely useful weapon that’s also pretty neat to look at.

Grand Inquisitor’s Spinning Double Bladed Lightsaber

We’ve loved double-sided Lightsabers for years. Darth Maul unleashing the second half of his saber in Phantom Menace was one of those memorable movie-going moments. But now, double sided lightsabers aren’t terribly uncommon. And while Maul’s gave us something to be amazed by, now it feels like something of a jumping off point. The Grand Inquisitor’s Lightsaber is double-sided, but has a round centerpiece allowing the entire weapon to spin, allowing the user to glide like a helicopter.

Ezra’s Pistol-Saber

Ezra Bridger is a new kind of Padawan so when he made his Lightsaber it was a little… different. The hilt features a fully functional blaster, so even when he was covered for distance and close quarters fights alike. Unfortunately when this saber was destroyed by Darth Vader, Ezra opted to give his next Lightsaber a more traditional hilt. But the blaster-saber lives on in our hearts.

Ahsoka’s White Lightsabers

Ahsoka Tano is far from the only character to use two Lightsabers in tandem, but hers are unique nonetheless. After leaving the Jedi Order she made her sabers out of corrupted Kyber Crystals that she took from a defeated inquisitor and purified, turning them white. White Lightsabers are a rarity in Star Wars because reclaiming corrupted Kyber Crystals is very rarely done, but on Ahsoka they are a key signifier of her character and represent how she is neither Jedi nor Sith but her own person.

Lord Corvax’s Decorative Lightsaber

This one is little-known in the Star Wars fandom, but has been included in Disney Parks merch lineups. Probably because it looks so striking. Lord Corvax is an ancient character in Star Wars lore who was nearly brought back to life by his wife but instead trapped between worlds. But his Lightsaber is beautiful. The metal crossguard and decorative hilt are more stylistic than practical. But if you’re looking for a saber that will look good to wear at your hip, you can’t get nicer than Lord Crovax’s Lightsaber.

What is your favorite Lightsaber? What kind of Lightsaber do you think you would wield? Do you prefer a classic hilt, or one with a little more personalization? Let us know in the comments!
