Rob Zombie’s ‘Munsters’ Teaser Trailer is Here – It’s Corny, Campy, & in Color!
Join America’s spookiest family as they welcome you to 1313 Mockingbird Lane in Rob Zombie’s ‘Munsters’ movie teaser trailer!
It’ll be a year this October since we found out that Rob Zombie would be adapting his own version of TV sitcom The Munsters. The shock-rocker turned horror movie producer has a unique style that certainly has fans divided. Is this iconic creature-feature family safe in Zombie’s hands? Whatever kind of anticipation you’re feeling, The Munsters teaser trailer is here to shine a little light into the darkness.
The Munsters Teaser Trailer
This teaser gives us another look at the three adults of the family: Herman and Lily Munster, plus Lily’s dad, the Count, known affectionately as “Grandpa”. The Munsters teaser trailer is, at first, a direct pull from the show’s opening credits. Except when it comes to revealing Marilyn and Eddie.
The second part of the teaser features Grandpa, Lily, and Herman sitting on the living room couch. And they’re fully in “living color”. Grandpa asks what they’re supposed to do now, and the preview ends.
Truthfully, it’s hard to know how to feel about the project with this peek. But we already know that this adaptation will be more fun and campy than Zombie’s usual horror movies. And that does come through a little more in the teaser.
Rob Zombie’s Horror Style
The use of bright color and campy horror elements is definitely Zombie’s gig. He’s best known for films like House of 1000 Corpses, 2007’s Halloween sequel, and The Devil’s Rejects. Rob has his own style, and frequently likes to work with his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, who will play Lily Munster in the film.
Rob Zombie’s experiences behind the camera are a polarizing force of the horror community. His films are very well known for their distinct style, but can sometimes fall short in the substance department. Fans of movies with lots of gore, dark humor, and b-movie mentality swear by his works, while others are just left scratching their heads.
The Munsters Cast, Crew, and Effects Team
In addition to Sheri Moon, Jeff Daniel Philips will play Herman Munster, while Daniel Roebuck will be The Count. The cast also recently added Cassandra Peterson to their ranks, which is always a good indicator of a fun time.
The film is also leaning into the use of more practical effects. Ex Mortis is a special effects studio and Halloween company started by Wayne Toth. Toth is a movie effects veteran whose work can be seen in a bunch of Zombie’s films: Lords of Salem, both Halloweens, and House of 1,000 Corpses. The studio will also be working with Zombie to bring The Munsters to life.
Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’ is set to release some time in 2022.
