Magic armor might have powerful defensive bonuses, but what good is it if it doesn’t look cool? These five magic armors have that baked in.

When it comes to magic armor in D&D, it plays an important role. It keeps your precious hit points safe. And it’s often the first thing people will use to define the look of their character. Whether you’re talking fan art, commissioned characters, or just plain ol’ words, cool armor makes a character stand out in people’s minds.

This is why these five armors are sure to be memorable at your table.

Demon Armor

This magical demon armor grants you the ability to speak Abyssal, as well as a bonus to armor class and attack rolls. It also upgrades your unarmed attacks, making them magic weapons that deal 1d8 damage. Sure, you can’t take it off unless you use remove curse but you’re wearing the armor of a Demon.

Yeah, you have trouble fighting demons (disadvantage against them and on saves against their abilities), but when was the last time you fought a demon? Anyway, that’s the price you pay for fashion. Art is suffering. Style is pain. Looking this good is a literal curse.

Dragon Scale Mail

This armor is less cursed. But you do have to get the scales of a dragon, one way or another. Don’t worry, sometimes shed scales are gifted to people the dragons like. Other times, well, this game is called Dungeons & Dragons, and adventurers take swords to both.

But! In addition to being dressed like a dragon, which is already pretty cool, you gain bonuses against draconic breath weapons and fear and can sense the kind of dragon your armor is made of, up to 30 miles away.

Serpent Scale Armor

Don’t have dragons? Don’t worry. This suit of magical armor is made from shimmering scales. Are they metal? Are they from giant snakes? That’s up to you. But you’ll be shimmering and stylish in whatever you make it out of. And while wearing this Scale Armor, you get your full Dexterity Modifier (instead of +2) as well as not having disadvantage on stealth checks.

You shine and you get to be graceful.

Molten Bronze Skin

Want a striking look? Pour this magical jar of liquid bronze over yourself. When you do, you gain formfitting, literally skintight bronze armor. You gain resistance to fire damage but also it doesn’t impede bodily functions.

Scorpion Armor

Last but not least: Scorpion Armor. This armor is made from the chitin of giant scorpions, and it is imbued with their venomous power. You get so much from this cool-looking scorpion armor, including:

  • +5 bonus to initiative
  • No disadvantage on stealth checks
  • No disadvantage against heat

And this is plate, so those last two are important. You do have to make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw every time you put the armor on or take it off, otherwise, you’ll take 100 points of damage if you fail (or 50 damage if you succeed). So. Hope you have hit points.

But remember. Fashion is suffering. Style is pain. Art is worth the price.

Happy adventuring!
