Age of Sigmar: Things I Hope We See in the Next Tzeentch & Lumineth Battletomes
There’s a new battlebox on the horizon, and those always come with juicy updates for the Tzeentch & Lumineth armies within.
Continuing the trend of Aelf army vs Chaos army, the next battlebox has been announced; the mystical Lumineth Realm-Lords vs the arcane forces of Tzeentch. While the box doesn’t seem to contain any new units (a bit strange for a battlebox), we are seeing a new Lumineth hero and an update of an old favorite Tzeentch commander. They look amazing, and the Curseling is the most dynamic Tzeentch model I’ve ever seen.
Of course, the real reason to be excited for a battlebox is the new battletomes that show up a few weeks later chock full of new rules and updates. But what sorts of things can we expect from these two mystical foes? Here are a few things I hope we see when Arcane Cataclysm hits the Mortal Realms.
Fire/Water Temple Rules
The Lumineth are warrior monks, learning their fighting styles from elemental forces that live in their home plane of Hysh. Like the Aeldari of the 41st millennium, they develop these lessons into different “aspects”, creating specialized warriors that exemplify the powers of their patron spirits. We’ve already seen the bovine Earth spirits and the vulpine Air entities, so I’m hoping we get to see the other two in the next book. Water in particular would be an interesting addition for the battlebox, to counter the mystical Warpflame that Tzeentch has become famous for. I’d love for the water spirit to be an otter or weasel, something playful but no less dangerous to represent the dual nature of the river.
More Tzeentch Mortals
While the Arcanites are an awesome group of models for the forces of Tzeentch, they feel a little limited compared to the mortal warriors available to the other gods. I’d love to see some knights or heavy infantry to support the lightly armored spellcasters the army is famous for. Heavy Infantry riding Discs similar to the units from Total War 3 would be an amazing addition, and would be an interesting alternative to the Tzaangor Enlightened. Tzeentch doesn’t necessarily NEED heavy hitters, but it would be fun to see nonetheless.
Tyrion
Alongside a new pair of aspects for the Lumineth, I would really love to see Teclis’s more war-like brother show up as well. It would make sense that if Teclis has dominion over the wind and the earth, Tyrion would take fire and water. Plus, maybe Tyrion would be able to temper Teclis’s hubris a bit, and if nothing else, it would give us the gate for another descendant of Aenarion…
What do you hope the new battletomes contain?
