If you’ve been wondering all of these years why Ant-Man didn’t go with this plan, you now have an answer direct from Scott Lang.

Fans have been discussing the Thanus theory since at least 2018. It posits that Ant-Man can defeat Thanos by shrinking down, entering the tyrant’s butt, and then rapidly expanding and killing him. It’s also been suggested that the Hulk put on Ant-Man’s suit, shrink, enter Thanos’ mouth, and blow his head up by expanding. Basically endless scenarios where someone in Pym suit shrinks and then expands inside of Thanos’ body.

And then there’s this theory…

Somehow this discussion didn’t die after the release of End Game.

Ant-Man Explains Why

Anyway, thanks to the new Disney Cruise ship you can go to the Avengers: Quantum Encounter. It’s a dinner theater show where the actors virtually reprise their roles to create an immersive experience with themed meals. It includes Captain Marvel, Sam’s Captain America, and others. At some point, they answer fan questions. And one of those questions includes the Thanus theory and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) was nice enough to answer it.

“Let me address the elephant in the room. I’ve heard a lot of chatter out there asking why I didn’t shrink down, go in, and uh—kill Thanos in a really creative way. First of all, gross. Secondly, it’s much more complicated than that. Allow me to explain— [Wasp interrupts him]”

There you go. There’s your answer.

Moving on to related things that have nothing to do with butts: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania is set to hit theaters in February 2023. Filming began in the summer of 2021 with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer. Jonathan Majors is on the cast list, and rumors say he will be reprising his role from Loki, He Who Remains. Looking forward to how the show and the new movie connect.
