D&D Accessories: Interesting Dice Materials For Interesting Characters

Mice dice are made of resin or plastic, but there are so many materials to make polyhedrals out of and they’re ALL pretty.

1. Wood Dice

Wooden dice are sturdy, lightweight (compared to many of the other options on this list) and will bring a natural softness and beauty to your D&D dice bag. If you’d prefer something less cold and weighty that you’d be okay with dropping on the floor from time to time, you can’t do better than a simple set of wooden dice. These would be perfect for playing a druid or any character who’s more in tune with nature.

2. Solid Copper Dice

Of course, if you’re looking to swing hard in the other direction, are playing an Artificer, or just prefer a more copper toned aesthetic, these copper metal dice will be right for you. The heavy duty solid metal set comes with your percentage dice and will last forever. The biggest risk to these dice would be putting a dent in your friends table while rolling initiative, so maybe it’s time to invest in a rolling matt or tray, too.

3. Hollow Dice

I’m no stranger to metal dice – I have a set that I use all the time, but it looks nothing like this. Sturdy and sharply detailed, these dice are a work of art just as much as a tool of the game. The hollow style gives the various dice a mysterious and magical look. And stylized Cthulhus and would fit in nicely with almost any warlock characters. Plus, I bet the weight and hollowness combine to make a very fun dice to roll.

4. Glass Dice

You may have seen this set floating around twitter. I’ve been practically drooling over them for weeks, but I’m clumsy and often roll my dice right out of their tray and onto the floor so maybe I’m not ready for this level of responsibility just yet. Glass dice – aside from being fragile and immediately turning any game much more high-brow feeling – have a gorgeous ability to play with lights and colors and these dice would make casting any magic spell feel like magic.

5. Coral Fossil Dice

If you’re a science nerd as well as a tabletop gaming nerd, love fossils, or just think that really old things are cool, this coral fossil set may have your number. This is a unique set with a story to tell, so why not use them to help tell your character’s story? A friend of mine has a similar coral set to this, and they’re even prettier in person.

Do you own any specialty dice or do you stick to the classics? What are your favorite dice made out of and how do they roll for you? Are they attached to a specific character or are they your every day dice? Let us know in the comments!
