The Biggest Announcements From Anime Expo 2022
From your favorite returning classics to the next chapter of the biggest ongoing shows, this is all of the biggest news from Anime Expo 2022.
Anime Expo 2022 was this past weekend, running from July 1st through July 4th in Los Angeles, California. Easily one of the biggest anime conventions of the year, Anime Expo is where you can expect some of the biggest anime news and see brand new trailers of upcoming seasons. These are some of the biggest announcements of Anime Expo 2022.
Trigun Stampede
This one was announced about half a month ago, so we’ve known that Trigun: Stampede was coming. But Anime Expo 2022 revealed the trailer as well as the Japanese voice cast. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will play Vash the Stampede. Junya Ikeda will be taking on the role of Vash’s twin brother, Knives, and Maaya Sakamoto will play their pseudo-adopted-mother, Rem Saverem. None of these are the original voice actors of the characters, making me wonder if the dub will also utilize different voice talent. The trailer seems to show a time before the the events of the original series. Considering how much of that was covered already, I’m interested to see what Trigun: Stampede will more specially be about. Unfortunately, I can’t say I love the animation style so far. But let’s be honest, I’m gunna watch it when it comes to Crunchyroll. I may watch it in costume. And I’ll definitely let you know what I think when I do.
My Hero Academia: Hero League Baseball
My Hero Academia is still coming and shows no signs of slowing down. Which is fine by me. This show is a fun, and fresh take on the super hero genre with characters who are often genuinely likable and adorable. It’s not without its issues, but I’ll never complain about more My Hero Academia. Anime Expo 2022 announced the season five OVAs, Laugh! As If You Are In Hell, and Hero League Baseball. Premièring on Crunchyroll on August 1st both will be available dubbed and subbed.
Mob Psycho 100
Anime Expo 2022’s Mob Psycho 2022 panel mostly seemed like a fun excuse to hang out with the panel and play trivia. To be honest, these low key, low stakes, just-plane-fun panels are always my favorite. There were a few reveals for season three visuals, but the biggest news of this panel was that the next season of Mob Psycho 100 would see an October premiere with episodes one and two showing at Crunchyroll Expo 2022.
Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling is finally making its anime debut, and we got a trailer at Anime Expo 2022. In a massive project that seems to have author very excited and overwhelmed, this anime will be released on Crunchyroll sometime in 2023. Unfortunately we don’t have a ton of information, but I’m sure we will see a lot more from this title in the months to come. And it will be one well worth keeping an eye out for.
