The Rogue Trader party grows. What retinue wouldn’t be complete without companions like a Tech Priest and a deadly Navigator?

In the grim darkness of the distant future, only your wits, your skill, your gear, and your incredible retinue of allies will help you find success. And in Owlcat Studio’s upcoming Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader friends are perhaps the greatest treasure.

And with friends like these? Even the darkest horrors of the galaxy don’t seem quite as grim.

Pasqal Haneumann – Tech-Priest of the Mechanicus

Every Rogue Trader needs someone to make sure their ship is running and that their custom, mastercrafted plasma pistol doesn’t overheat too much. So it should be of little surprise that your Rogue Trader in Rogue Trader will have a Tech-Priest companion.

In this case it’s Pasqal Haneumann, Magos Explorator:

Pasqal Haneumann, bearer of the lofty title of Magos Explorator, has spent many decades on the march toward planets yet unknown and systems yet unconquered. His memory unit is now a treasury of priceless knowledge, unavailable even to the highest-born of the Imperium’s aristocrats. He has been doing his duty to the Omnissiah while tempering his relentless craving for knowledge with discipline and loyalty to the precepts of his faith. And it was there, in the light of alien stars, that he confronted a most terrible enemy: dissent among his fellows, a schism that could shake the Imperium to its foundations. Pasqal stepped away from the Explorators’ enterprise for years in order to ponder the dilemma he was facing.

However, a cryptic message from a former mentor made Pasqal abandon his duties and join a Rogue Trader’s retinue. He hopes that the protection of such a powerful figure will help him find his venerable teacher and decide just how firm the boundaries of dogma are for a seeker of truth. Some revelations are painful, but Pasqal is prepared to endure anything for his thirst for knowledge. For such is the will of the Omnissiah.

The Navigator

And just as a ship needs the blessing of the Omnissiah to run, so too does it need the guiding light of the Emperor to venture anywhere. The Navigator takes up that task:

A Navigator is the scion of one of the great Navigator houses. These bloodlines are said by some to be older than the Imperium itself and by others to be a direct creation of the God-Emperor when he walked in mortal form. Over the millennia, they have garnered great power and influence thanks to the Imperium’s reliance on them, but at the same time are caged by convention and tradition. A Navigator wants for nothing, yet in reality is often a slave of their station.

Thanks to their Warp Eye, they are able to pierce the veil between the Materium and the Immaterium, between reality and the nightmarish realms beyond. Able to perceive the warp’s shifting contours and impossible currents, they can guide a vessel by dint of their skill and the immeasurable aid of the light of the Astronomican, the Emperor-forged and soul-burning beacon that shines across the galaxy from ancient Terra. The life of a Navigator is one of duty and service to their house, yet many would have it no other way, for they are never truly more alive than when ensconced in their navigation sanctum, gazing into the insane, swirling depths of the Immaterium, pitting their will and their wits against the ravening storm of energy and thought that lurks behind all things others call real
