It’s the progenitor of the Land Raiders coming to plastic-town! The Proteus is getting a new plastic kit for the Horus Heresy.

Today, Games Workshop has announced the Land Raider Proteus coming to the Horus Heresy is glorious plastic. I hope you treadheads are ready for a whole lot of treads to build…

“Many patterns of these lumbering tanks exist in Legion armouries, but none have the pedigree of the venerable Land Raider Proteus, which now returns to the Age of Darkness with a new plastic kit.”

Land Raider Proteus Plastic Kit

The kit itself is going to come with a few different weapon options. You can go with the classic Land Raider Proteus with the Assault Ramp and various hull-and-pintle-mounted guns. Or you can opt for the Land Raider Proteus Explorator that swaps out the Assault Ramp for a dozer blade — perfect for plowing into and through battlefield obstacles. Oh and it also comes with an explorator augury web which basically give it the scout rule.

Now, it’s worth noting this is actually not the first time we’ve gotten a plastic Land Raider Proteus. Technically, the very first plastic Land Raiders released in the 1980s during the Rogue Trader Era were the first. It’s cool to see them get a glow-up and brought back to the tabletop in such a cool way.

This kit is a really cool callback to those early days. I can’t wait to see one on the tabletop in person!

The Horus Heresy is going strong — what do you think of the massive new plastic Land Raider Proteus?
