New ‘Medieval’ Red Band Trailer is Brutal
Medieval tells the story of a Czech national hero who never lost a battle – even after losing both eyes in combat.
This is the most expensive film Czech ever made and it ought to be given the importance of the man it’s focused on. A military commander and national hero.
Jan Žižka was a Czech general who led the Taborites in the late 1300s through the early 1400s. He played a key role in the civil wars of Bohemia, and he beat the Holy Roman Empire and Teutonic Order in battle. The general foresaw inventions like the tank and excelled at quickly training peasants and farmers to take on bigger, more armored opponents. Žižka also wound up losing both his eyes in combat, despite that he never lost a battle.
This is a movie about war – and wars are bloody.

They’re not holding back on the violence and cruelty that comes with historical conflicts like this. Can’t say anything about what its accuracy will be, but ‘epic’ definitely fits here. Here’s to hoping the music choices are a bit more traditional in the actual movie – this pick doesn’t work.
