Games Workshop previews some new Warscrolls as well as updates to existing ones for the Slaves to Darkness!

The Slaves to Darkness Army box is just around the corner which means the Battletome is, too. Today, Games Workshop is covering some of the big updates to various Warscrolls in the book and how those units are being updated to the new version. Let’s see which units are getting juiced and also meet a new one as well.

“The Era of the Beast has infused the Mortal Realms with the primal energies of Ghur, and the Slaves to Darkness are no exception. Their ranks bolstered by horned brutes and mighty steeds, the worshippers of Chaos arrive with new rules befitting the Everchosen’s endless hordes.”

Ogroid Theridons

One of the new units added to the army, the Ogroid Theridons are a unit that will actually hit harder if they have been bloodied in the same phase. Their Berserk Rage kicks in and, if you couple that with their Unleashed Savagery, they can end up with +1 to wound and +1 attacks for the round. On top of that don’t forget about the new Eye of the Gods table which they have the opportunity to roll on as well.

The Chaos Chosen have been blessed with a new kit and some more changes to their warscroll. First up, keep an eye out for a better armor save. Secondly, they ALSO get a free roll on the Eye of the Gods table. And the last preview here is their Heralds of Ruination which allows them to swing for a second time during the combat phase. This is similar to the Varanguard option from the previous book — the only downside is that this version causes them to strike-last for the second round of attacks. Personally, I think that the “penalty” is worth it because it only applies after they have already gotten their initial swings in anyhow.

Chaos Warriors

One thing not mentioned for the Chaos Warriors in the image above is that they now come with a standard armor save of 3+ which is already a boost! Furthemore, their weapons are now rocking a point of rend! That’s a very welcomed addition. They also get a bonus for basically doing what you want them to do — taking objectives! They get an additional attack when they are wholly within 12″ of an objective you don’t control! And, if I’m not mistaken, they even have a way to get a roll on the Eye of the Gods table when they take an objective. Just give them the Mark of Chaos Undivided.

Overall, these changes show that some of the bread and butter Slave to Darkness units just got a nice boost. I’m very curious to see what the rest of the Warscrolls in this book look like. They sure look tougher across the board — at least on paper. I wonder how that could translate to the entire army’s playstyle.

What do you think of the new Slaves to Darkness changes for these Warscrolls?
