Prepare to be Scared: Two of Horror’s Heavy Hitters Join Forces
Jason Blumhouse and James Wan are in talks to merge their horror production (haunted) houses, pointing to a bright future for horror fans.
Two of horror’s most notable names are making arrangements to merge their talents. The two previously teamed up to make Insidious, and now that James Wan’s contract with Warner Bros. is up, he and Blum are ready to elevate horror in their own way.

Blumhouse Entertainment
Jason Blum’s eponymous production company has become a major name in horror production since its founding in 2000. Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Get Out, the new Halloween trilogy – the company has a knack for picking up movies that often build their own kind of universe or lore.
Blumhouse’s upcoming film M3GAN is already sufficiently given people the creeps and it doesn’t come out until January 6th. That movie, by the way, is also a James Wan movie. It was an idea he reportedly pitched to Warner Bros., but they already had the Annabelle movies.
James Wan
According to Blum, his relationship with Wan is one of balance. Blum has an eye for recognizing a good horror property when h sees it, and Wan has ideas coming out of his ears. Blumhouse Productions certainly has the internal structure and connection to make it easier for Wan to delegate all those sick, twisted, delicious ideas.
Wan first made a name for himself in 2004 when he introduced the world to Jigsaw in Saw. Since then, his name has been behind some of the highest-grossing horror film franchises of the modern age, including The Conjuring universe and the pandemic hit Malignant.
He’s also worked on projects outside of horror, including Aquaman and Furious 7.
Wan & Blum Have Big Plans
It sounds like the two are setting their sites on several new projects and mediums. Blum would like to see the new company release twice as many theatrical releases each year, plus movies and series for Peacock. As for Wan, he wants to build out more universes in some exciting new mediums, like video games, podcasts, merchandise, and events.
