Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Chaos Shields To Forward
Someone’s got a beat up Chaos Shield in the latest Rumor Engine. But what does it mean and who’s using it? That’s what we want to know!
It’s once again Tuesday which means it’s time for a new Rumor Engine! Today we’ve got a pretty simple looking image but that’s the tricky part of the Rumor Engine. There’s a lot more going on. Also, the meta-narrative of the Rumor Engine continues to unfold…
“Day 205: I have to let the guys upstairs know. The Engine… it’s changed, and I think I’m the only one left who realises. I have to send them this picture, it’ll explain everything. I only hope it’s not too late, they’re starting to suspect I’m not with them…”
This whole meta-narrative is starting to feel like a chaos cult has infiltrated the Rumor Engine. Which…yeah, I mean, we’ve seen that go nuts before. We’ll keep watching how that story unfolds. For now, let’s take a closer look at this image.
Clearly, it’s s chaos-themed shield. It’s got the 8 pointed star of chaos and it’s pretty well worn and beaten. It’s strange in that it reminds me more of the Kruleboyz style of armor than a straight chaos shield.
Maybe it’s just the rounded features and the slightly beaten look. The major difference is that the Kruleboyz have squig-faces on their shields.
It also reminds me of the gutplates the Ogors wear. I don’t know if that’s related but it is interesting. While this Rumor Engine is most certainly chaos related, it’s hard to pin down because we’ve just gotten a Slaves To Darkness book for AoS. In 40k, we’re not slated for a new “vanilla” Chaos book anytime soon as the World Eaters are next. After that GW is kicking off the Arks of Omen series. Not sure if we’re going to see new models or not for that series.
Perhaps GW is once again playing the long game with this Rumor Engine. We won’t know for sure for a while if that’s the case. Something Chaos is brewing. We’ll have to see how it pans out!
