Patty Jenkins and James Gunn Set the Record Straight About ‘Wonder Woman 3’
Last week, rumors swirled around James Gunn and Peter Safran’s big DCU pitch – including the news that Wonder Woman 3 wasn’t happening.
The WB drama train just keeps on chugging along, with updates (and rumors) flying around almost hourly. Last week, The Hollywood Reporter and later The Wrap published two insider stories, the first claiming that WW3 no longer on the table per the instructions of DC Films new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. The second story reported the claims of a source saying that it was Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins who turned off the gas on the future project.
Now both creators have spoken up about the controversy using their own Twitter feeds.
James Gunn Has Been Rumor-Busting All Week
Since the first report came out last week, James Gunn’s Twitter has been absolute fire. He was quick to set the record straight about his stance on both Superman and the (now previous) actor who played him, Henry Cavill. He also confirmed that Matt Reeves’ Batman universe will not be a part of the new DCU. He’s also said that they’ve met with Ben Affleck to find the right director project for the Batman alumn.
He also joined in a chorus today following a statement released by Patty Jenkins about the fate of the third Wonder Woman movie.
Patty Jenkins Has a Full Plate
Jenkins felt the need to clear the air on her Twitter feed, posting an official statement you can read below.

The tall and short of it sounds like Patty has plenty going on with Rogue Squadron, which is apparently happening now. And that’s great! Does it mean that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will show up in the new DCU? Well, we don’t know yet. But James Gunn did pop into the thread saying that he and Safran have met with Jenkins and it’s all gravy.
I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.

While few things are certain at this point, we’ll all be tuning in to Gunn’s Twitter and official press releases for our DCU news for a little while…
