These hateful Eightbound are ready to shred their enemies on the tabletop. You’re going to want to see these new World Eaters rules previews.

Games Workshop has gifted us with a bit of the background of the Eightbound and what it takes to make them as well as a look at their murderous rules. After reading up on them it’s easy to understand why they are so full of the angries all the time.

“To swell the ranks of the Eightbound, particularly savage Berzerkers are chained into an iron sarcophagus known as an Eightcage. Probes and needles interface with the subject’s cybernetic Butcher’s Nails, thrusting their mind into the depths of the warp and a battle for their very soul…

The victorious few are set free, irrevocably transfigured by their traumatic experience – and host to an octet of daemons that still rage within their body, embroiled in combat over the World Eater’s soul. A handful of Eightbound may live long enough to ascend further. Conquering the battle within allows the Exalted Eightbound to focus their combined rage entirely outwards, against their whimpering foes…”

Yeah, these guys are pretty messed up in the mind. And it’s reflected in their twisted form, too. That new symbiotic relation with the bound daemons within does come with a stat-boost that makes them terrifying in melee. And that’s before you factor in their brutal new weapons.

They are FAST with a 9″ move base. That’s Aeldari speed right there — remember they are on foot! They have that Marine training giving them WS/BS 3+ but then the daemon power kicks in. They have a whopping 6 strength and 5 toughness as well as 3 wounds each. And that speed and agression culminates in 4 attacks base. They are also in power armor with a 3+ save and a quite fitting leadership of 8.

Maybe they won’t need a ride to the enemy’s doorstep. And when they get there watch out for their Eightbound Eviscerators with AP -3 and 2 damage each. They also get +1 attack with these weapons, too. Baseline that’s 5 attacks at strength 6, AP -3 and 2 damage. That’s a potential 10 damage per Eightbound that makes it to combat.

And if you thought the regular Eightbound were the stuff of nightmares then check out the Exalted Eightbound!

Still just as fast and tough and strong — but they have a WS of 2+ instead.  They also have access to some new toys like the Eightbound Chainfist which catapults their strength up to 9 with AP -4 and 2 damage per swing. And if they rock 2 of them, they get +1 damage, too! They should have a much easier time with the heavier armor.

The Eightbound also have access to a special stratagem, too — the Red Butchers have returned!

For 2 CP you can boost their damage by yet another point. Across a unit that’s really going to add up.

The World Eaters are coming to town. I hope you’re ready to deal with them at range because you do not want to go toe-to-toe with them!
