“Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock has led an interesting, but strife filled life. She battled the forces of evil for years beside many different teammates, always on the side of good. However, she eventually found herself brainwashed and physically altered by the Hand, turned into an unwitting tool for evil. Their experiments forced her into a new body and their training made her deadlier than ever. With no memory of her past life, she was acting as an assassin for the Mandarin when an old friend helped her regain her lost memories. Now she uses both her old and new talents to fight on the side of good once more.”
Marvel: Crisis Protocol Psylocke
Now that you know about this purple haired mutant, let’s see what she can do on the battlefield.
Kicking things off her basic attack is her Telekinetic Katana. At range 2 and 5 strength it’s got decent hitting power. However you can also augment that further with the option to choose the damage type before you swing. Additionally, it can also cause the target to lose energy from this attack! This is a multi-faceted attack that’s a great part of her kit.
Did you think Psylocke was done with her Telekinetic Katana? Guess again because she’s also got her Telekinetic Combat Enhancement ability. For 2 energy, she can advance “s” and add two dice to her next Telekinetic Katana attack.
Psi-Blow is another attack that’s more than just a power generator. The utility comes from the high range, power generation it gives her, and the option to move range “s” toward the target. That’s a lot of free “stuff” from one basic attack. The real heavy hitter is Psionic Assault which auto-forces the Stun special condition on the target and then you deal damage. at Range 3 and strength 7 it’s got the potential to really do a number on the target.
Telepathic Precognition is a nice utility power as well as you can use it offensively or defensively. By spending energy you can basically buy extra re-rolls for attacks or defense. Psylocke is also an accomplished Martial Artist and therefore she gets to add Blanks to her defense roll. Gee…I wonder if those could be re-rolled in some way…
Finally, Psylocke is a warrior trained by the Hand and so she knows a few things about being sneaky. Her Stealth ability means she can’t be targeted by characters outside of range 3 for attacks.
Psylocke will be available soon alongside Emma Frost soon.
Psychic Powered Ninja?! Yeah…she’s trouble!
