Lost ‘Catan’ Sheep Found in Unlikely April Fools Crossover
Everyone’s favorite animal simulator gets a new resident.
Over the weekend, the Island of Catan’s sheep went missing, leaving the residents and publishers of CATAN panicked. CATAN’s beloved sheep was reported missing by the publishers, CATAN Studio, of the original board game and CATAN on Board Game Arena after she mysteriously wandered off from her post on her CATAN resource card.
After a long and exhausting search, the sheep were found to be safe in San Angora, the home of the craziest goat of all, Pilgor! Coffee Stain North released a fun trailer to celebrate their new guest on April Fools:
Sheep in the Big City
The Island of Catan Sheep are now playable in Goat Simulator 3 and will be staying indefinitely. They are also rebranding whenever she is used – now the game shows as Sheep Simulator 3 instead. Pilgor is thrilled to have a new friend to wreak havoc on the citizens of San Angora. The crossover is a free DLC and is available now.
Santiago Ferrero, Creative Director at Coffee Stain North said of the crossover:
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome CATAN’s sheep to San Angora, sheep are basically fluffier goats at the end of the day so we know she’ll fit right in. The island could also use a break from the troublesome Pilgor who we’ve managed to offload for a while to Catan to fill in as their resource goat, since she’s technically 32 in goat years it’s high time she tried her hooves at a proper job!”
Helping Out a Friend
While the Sheep from CATAN was away, Pilgor sat in for their friend in CATAN games on Board Game Arena and CATAN Console Edition. Pilgor decided to be on their best behavior during their limited time with the islanders and substituted as the resource for a couple of days. Pilgor got express permission from Coffee Stain North and Coffee Stain Publishing to go on this little birthday adventure of theirs.
Pete Fenlon, CEO of CATAN Studio welcomed Pilgor’s brief stay in CATAN:
“It brings us shear joy that our beloved sheep has been found safe and sound, and that she is having a great time in San Angora,” “And while she is on her woolly adventure, we are equally happy to welcome Pilgor to Catan. No goat could make a better stand-in! May she happily run wild in Catan’s rich pastures. Welcome to the flock, Pilgor!”
Unfortunately, Pilgor’s stay was a short one since players could only see them during April Fool’s day itself and they returned home once the holiday was over. There is a chance though you could make them a permanent resident on the physical board game.
Pilgor Sweepstakes!
That’s right, Pilgor can become a resident of Catan Islands with a special limited edition card set. CATAN Studios have set up special sweepstakes for US Residents to win a physical set of the limited edition Pilgor resource cards that end on April 7th, 2023. Just go to this link and fill out the form to be entered.
Goat Simulator is such a fun series and I am incredibly happy they got more animals to use in the game. Shame the CATAN crossover was limited to one day, but hopefully, those resource cards go to good homes of people who will love to use them. CATAN, or Settlers of CATAN, was one of the first board games that weren’t one of the household staples like Monopoly or Sorry! I still highly recommend both games and can’t wait to see if Pilgor ever comes back to the console game or Board Game Arena edition.
Goat Simulator 3 is available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and on PC via the Epic Game Store
CATAN Console Edition is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
CATAN is also available on Board Game Arena
