Everything You’ll Want To Review From ‘Fallen Order’ Before Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Comes Out
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be downloading directly to our consoles tomorrow. Let’s take a moment and review what happened in Fallen Order.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor hits shelves tomorrow, and early reviews have been pretty darn good so far. We’re excited to return to Cal Kestis, his adorable droid, and his story. But it’s been a little more than three years since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order came out. So before Survivor downloads directly onto all of our gaming consoles and computers, let’s review some of the biggest plot points to remember about Fallen Order.
This breakdown of Fallen Order will include numerous spoilers for the entire game and is meant to act as a refresher before Survivor is released. If you haven’t played or completed Fallen Order yet, proceed at your own risk.
Cal Kestis
The main character of the Fallen Order series of games, Cal, is a former padawan who managed to escape Order 66. He used to study under Jedi Master Jaro Tapal, but when Tapal was killed in the Jedi purge Cal had to go on the run on his own. We see portions of his escape from Order 66 in flashbacks throughout Fallen Order.
When the game starts we see that he has been keeping a low profile on Bracca, pretending not to be force sensitive and working with the Scrapper Guild. When his powers are discovered by the Jedi hunting Inquisitors, he must go on the run once more. He is assisted by Greez Dritus and Cere Junda, who let him escape on their ship, the Stinger Mantis, a S-161 “Stinger” XL Luxury Yacht.
Cere Junda
One of the members of the Mantis, Cere is a former Jedi Knight and Jedi Seeker. After learning about Cal’s powers she agrees to continue his training. In her time in the Jedi Order, Cere took on Trilla Suduri as an apprentice, but both were captured in the aftermath of Order 66 and tortured. As a result, Trilla fell to the Dark Side and joined the Inquisitors. Cere, though, managed to escape. Her feelings of guilt and fear caused her to sever her connection to the Force for many years.
Eventually, she managed to reconnect with the Force and came to terms with her past. Cere is dedicated to the restoration of the Jedi Order.
The Holocron
Cal and his small droid, BD-1, learn of a hidden Holocron with the locations of secret force-sensitive children, meant to rebuild the Jedi Order. Upon finding it, Cal has a vision of the deaths of everyone named, as well as his own fall to the Dark Side. Cal decides to destroy the Holocron instead of using it in order to allow the give the children a choice in whether or not to follow the path of the force.
Merrin & The Nightsisters
Merrin is a member of the Nighsisters from Dathomir, and for a while after the fall of the Jedi Order he was manipulated by former Jedi Master Taron Malicos. Malicos eventually fell to the Dark Side, obsessed with learning Nightsister magick, and convinced her that the Jedi were responsible for the losses of the Nighsisters.
When Cal made it to Dathomir to search the Tomb of Kujet, Malicos attempted to recruit Cal as well, and Merrin eventually realized that Malicos had been deceiving and using her. After defeating the fallen Jedi, she joined Cal and the Mantis to fight the Galactic Empire, who was actually responsible for many of Merrin’s losses.
Second Sister / Trilla
We first meet Trillas, the Second Sister, when she is hunting Cal Kestis. But throughout Fallen Order, we learn that she was not only a padawan, but Cere Junda’s padawan and had tragically fallen to the Dark Side after being captured and tortured by the Empire. In the game’s finale, Cal defeats the second sister, and he and Cere attempt to talk to her and bring her back to the Light Side. But just when it seems that they may be getting through to her, Darth Vader shows up, kills her, and pursues Cal and Cere. The game ends with the Mantis barely escaping Vader.
