‘Total War: Pharaoh’ – The Strategy and Skill of Tausret
Tausret is a master of both tactics and diplomacy, both of which you’ll need to win in Total War: Pharaoh. Check out her gameplay!
Another gameplay deep dive from Creative Assembly takes us inside the inner workings of Total War: Pharaoh. Today we’re getting a closer look at Tausret, the Strategist. She is determined to lead Egypt through its time of crisis and seize the throne away from those who would drive the empire into ruin.
And to do this, she has a number of unique tools. Including a research tree with a focus on unique chariots, increased abilities at Court, and the ability to outmaneuver enemies… with the right amount of preparation.
Total War: Pharaoh – Tausret Showcase
Tausret is a brilliant political figure who will focus on claiming the throne if her husband Seti proves incapable of dealing with the responsibilities of the crown. A life spent battling prejudice has made her strong and resilient in all matters, be they diplomacy, finance, or war. Few realize her genius, as the focus at court has been directed to the male heirs – which could prove a very grave mistake. Tausret’s faction can quickly become the region’s dominant economic force if left unchecked by opponents for too long.
With a more defensive playstyle, and access to some of the best chariots in the game, Tausret benefits from playing the long game. And the long game is what she’s best at playing. We get a look at how the only game that matters (who becomes Pharaoh) plays out, with a closer look at the Egyptian Civil War mechanics.
When you throw your crown into the ring, you come into conflict with other pretenders to the throne. Each has a legitimacy score, which you can increase by holding the sacred lands of Egypt, among other things. You’ll also get access to a number of crowns, which like the titles (that every leader has) give you faction-wide buffs.
Of course this is just a small taste of how the game will work. To say nothing of devotion to the gods:
Or the multiple catastrophes that may befall Egypt during your battle for dominance, including but not limited to invasion by Hittites and a potential mysterious threat lurking across the sea.
Total War: Pharaoh comes out October 2023.
