Final Fantasy VII is arguably one of the greatest video games of all time. Its fans are incredibly dedicated, and it is one of the most often cosplayed properties in the videogame world. We’ve covered a TON of amazing Final Fantasy VII cosplays, and today we’re featuring the most popular: Tifa Lockhart. This sweet and sassy girl next door is here to throw punches and save the world from Shinra Inc.
Tifa Lockhart comes from the small town of Nibelheim and is an accomplished martial artist and key member of the AVALANCHE resistance. She’s known for her signature black and white outfit, with a pop of color in her red boots. She’s fast and agile, and her kicks leave enemies in the dust. Today we’ve gathered some exciting inspiration to pump you up for your own Tifa cosplay build!
Tifa Lockhart Closet Cosplay: The Skirt
The main item on this list is Tifa’s skirt. You can go with either leather or softer fabric, but the key is to keep it short and out of the way so those high kicks can get poppin’! I definitely recommend wearing shorts under this skirt, both because it’s short, and so you don’t have to worry about showing too much while throwing those kicks!
If you want something with a bit more throwback style, this skirt is just the ticket. The fabric will move and breathe more than the previous version, and bonus—it’s cute enough to wear out on the town as well!
Tifa Lockhart Closet Cosplay: The Top
This is the most basic part of the whole cosplay—you just need any kind of white, cropped tank. If you don’t have one that’s cropped, just take some scissors to what you’ve already got on hand. If you want extra support and coverage (and protection against the sheer nature of white), I suggest wearing a high-cut black sports bra underneath. It will match the lines and provide that extra security.
Tifa Lockhart Closet Cosplay: The Suspenders
There are a TON of different styles you could use for the suspenders. Any black belt, unadorned or more decorated, partnered with some simple black suspenders, will do the trick. There are some places that offer belt-and-suspender combos, or you can buy the pieces separately.
Tifa Lockhart Closet Cosplay: The Boots
Tifa’s boots are one of the coolest parts of her wardrobe. They’re bright red and super sassy and enable those dolphin blow kicks. We’ve gone with a classic Doc Martin for this list, but you can do any red (or black, for that matter) boot that you’re comfortable moving around in. Form is more important than function here, unless you’re doing a studio shoot and don’t have to move around much!
Tifa Lockhart Closet Cosplay: The Gloves
To drive home the point, finish this cosplay off with any kind of fingerless fighting glove. Leather or fabric, pre-fab or wrapped athletic tape… Go with what you’ve got and what feels comfortable! Stick with fingerless, it’ll make moving and using your phone more sustainable on the convention floor!
