Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Get a Grip
Really have to hand it to the Rumor Engine this week. It’s really grabbed my attention. Hopefully we can get a good grip on what it is.
Welcome back to another Tuesday and a Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. I would apologize about the hand puns but they’ll all make sense when you get a look at this one for yourself.
Talk To The Hand
Okay, so clearly it’s a hand. But I have a question…how many fingers are you counting? I’m only seeing four digits on that hand and it sure looks like there are two opposable “thumbs” from this angle. Additionally, what’s up with the armor? This certainly has an interesting pose for the hand as well.
There are a few creatures in the worlds of Warhammer that have four digits on their hands. Gargants and Mega-Gargants from the Sons of Behemat come to mind. There’s also a lot of detail on this hand so I do wonder if this is a larger creature.
On the other end of the spectrum there’s also another race of creatures that have four digits. And they are a lot shorter than Gargants…
Yep. T’au have four digits — but only one of them is a “thumb” which means that neither the T’au or the Gargants are good options to match the creature’s hand above. So…what could it be? I don’t know! But it’s exciting as this could be the start of something brand new from Games Workshop. Well, I mean, we DO know it’s a new model at least but what if it’s from a new race of creatures? The armor it has on isn’t so futuristic that it rules out the Age of Sigmar line. It’s also not so fantastical that it rules out 40k either. This mystery box is wide open folks and that’s where you come in.
If you’ve got any ideas on what this could be drop us a line in the comments with what your guess is and why. We’re stumped and could really use a hand…
Meta-Narrative Update
Soooo if you’ve been keeping up things have gotten weird. The Rumor Engine was going all AI, the ORDO was called in, we got a “promotion” and then “demoted” or something. Anyhow, it looks like whatever was going on is done? (But probably not…)
“The Rumour Engine is no more. Its demise was inevitable. A single cogitator processing that sheer amount of inscrutable future-derived data was always going to annihilate itself through repetition of the assembly process. Its garbage scrap code may have appeared as sentient, but – we assure you – it was nothing more than pareidolic empathy.”
The Rumor Engine is done? But I hope not — we’ll find out next week!
Probably a new Space Marine Lieutenant, amirite?!
