1,225 Years Of Baldur’s Gate 3 Played In First Week
Baldur’s Gate 3 came out last week, and since then, gamers have played a millennia and change in Larian’s sandbox.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a sprawling, epic game. If you’re seeing it everywhere, there’s a good reason for that. Not only is the game incredibly fun, it’s also being played a lot. Like a lot. According to an infographic released from Larian to celebrate their first week of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have put in a comined 1,225 years of Baldur’s Gate 3 since it released. And that was at press time.
Curious about other stats for the game? Well no worries friends. There’s plenty more interesting facts where that came from. See if you can guess who the most romanced companion is before you go on. My money isn’t on Karlach, but that’s just because I know everyone’s falling for the vampire twink.

In the above tweet, Baldur’s Gate 3 developers Larian dive headlong into just what you all have been up to in the game. A surprising number of folks are still lumbering around the tutorial. My guess? It’s all those alts you started making because you know you’re going to play through it more than once.
You might even make different decisions, even though it is very hard to be mean to your NPC companions.
Speaking of which, Gale is the most popular character chosen by players. You can pick origin characters, if you weren’t aware, though that is a very small percentage of the mor ethan 800,000 concurrent players the game has seen as it shatters Steam records. Because some 93% of characters played are custom origins. And, if you look at the stats, it looks like most of them are Half-Elf Paladins.
I feel personally attacked right now.
Astarion seems to be more discerning than you might have guessed, given, you know, everything about him. He’s rejected more than 100,000 pour souls. But it seems like Shadowheart is capturing everyone’s heart’s shadow, by being the most romanced character, followed not too distantly by eveyrone’s Wizard husand, Gale.
No word yet on how many polycules exist in the game, or with who, but that is a distinct possibility. One I’m trying to set up, which explains why I’m not one of the almost 400 players who finished the game during the first weekend.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is doing impressive numbers – time to go up them some more!
