The Ogors of the Age of Sigmar have been waiting patiently for something to fill their appetite for new models. These Gorgers are it!

This weekend will be the release of the Hunter and Hunted boxed set for Warhammer: Warcry and that means new models for both the Cities of Sigmar and (more importantly, imo) the Ogor Mawtribes. These new Ogor Gorgers are a massive step up and are hopefully a sign of things to come.

Ogor Gorgers

Just for a point of comparison, this is the current Ogor Gorger:

This is the current one that’s available. There was art of an alternate head swap as well:

But yeah…that’s pretty much all you had to work with for this unit. Now, here’s the new models coming courtesy of Warcry:

While this is a unit that will likely get their own set of rules I doubt anyone is going to mind you using any of these as a replacement to the old Gorger — if that option sticks around anyhow.

To be fair the paint jobs are doing a lot of the work here but they all tie back into the previous model, too. There’s lots of design elements that are borrowed and that’s not a bad thing! They don’t look quite as emaciated as the previous version. They look more like Ogors who hit the gym and dropped the body fat and none of the muscle mass.

I think this bodes well for the future of the Ogor Mawtribes. While their models are fine the infantry in particular is starting to show their age. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like a lot of the Ogor models but I’m also looking forward to what GW could do if they wanted to up the ante on those models. Imagine what new Ironguts or Leadbelcher models could look like with the more modern tech GW has.

It’s only a handful of pose options and they aren’t super dynamic…but what if…

Based on the new Gorgers it looks like the sculptors could have a field day with even bulkier Ogors with more dynamic poses. I’m not asking to go full on Gargant-size, but maybe upping their bases a step and giving them some more beef to play around with would be a good move.

Don’t forget about that Mawpit — that’s looking cool, too!

The point is that the Ogor Mawtribes are finally getting some love for an old, outdated unit and the rest of that line (particularly the infantry) could use a nice update, too. And maybe, just maybe, these new Gorgers are a sign of things to come.
