Legions Imperialis: 5 Kits We Are Excited To Get Our Hands On
Legions Imperialis has a TON of kits that have been announced. These are the five that we can’t wait to build for ourselves.
At some point (hopefully soon) Games Workshop is going to kick the release of Legions Imperialis into high gear and all those kits they’ve been teasing are going to flood out. It really feels like they took the entire Horus Heresy line and just shrank everything. That means there are some really great looking models coming and we’re excited about these one in particular.
Javelin Speeders
The Javelin Speeds look awesome. Not only are they going to be great assets on the tabletop but having a squadron of them to zoom around and threaten the flanks of bigger targets is going to be needed. Plus, with the size and scale of the battlefield all that speed should really help them scoot and score objectives deep in enemy territory.
Leviathan Dreadnoughts
I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure how effective Leviathan Dreadnoughts are going to be on the tabletop in Legions Imperialis. However, I don’t really care! They look great in this scale as they have plenty of detail to be distinguishable and intimidating. At the same time they are tiny and cute. I can’t wait to send in a brick of these chonkers into the enemy lines!
Drop Pods
Okay, this one is really just more morbid curiosity than anything else. Personally, I’ve been about a dozen or more 40k Drop Pods over years. They aren’t my favorite kit as they have their quirks. Anyone who’s built one can tell you. However, I’m curious how GW is tackling them for this scale and how the designers had to slice up the models to get them to work. I wonder what the challenge will be to build them — that’s what I really want to find out.
The Terrain Kits
I know this is a weird one but the Terrain Kits have me intrigued. To me, Terrain is the “third” faction on the board and it really helps to sell the game visually. If you don’t have good terrain on the tabletop then it can take you out of the cinematic moments that are created. You imagination has to work a lot harder. That’s fine sometimes. But if the terrain looks good then it can really pull you into a more immersive experience. Besides that, I think there are some really cool modeling opportunities with this terrain at the epic scale.
MARINES!
I think it’s wild that the Space Marines are going to be so tiny and so detailed (for that scale). I’m not looking forward painting them so I might keep things super simple with whatever legion I end up picking up for this scale. That said, I also kinda want a chapter’s worth of Space Marines (so… like 1000) at that scale… It’s going to be awesome to see fully painted armies in Legions Imperialis and I can’t wait!
What kits are you looking forward to when Legions Imperialis (eventually) arrives?
