Now that the new live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is out, make sure you’re ready with your jasmine tea and Gyatso’s fruit pies.
Avatar – The Last Airbender: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
No matter if you love the live-action or hate it, you’ve got to have the full original animated series to own. It’s a masterpiece of storytelling and character development. Every episode is an absolute banger, and I’m including The Great Divide.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Official Cookbook
The official Avatar: The Last Airbender Cookbook is exactly what it says on the tin. Don’t worry about confusing sugar cookies with a sewing kit here. Still, for all accounts, this book is canon. Each entry has a short blurb written about it.
How else would you be able to know Aang’s favorite flavor is purple?
Avatar, the Last Airbender: The Kyoshi Novels
Non-Avatar snobs will try to claim the Kyoshi novels aren’t part of The Last Airbender saga, but you and I both know they are fools. The Avatar Cycle means that Aang is Kyoshi and vice versa, so this totally counts.
Plus, I’m calling it now: there will be a Kyoshi spin-off series in the next few years. So you need to be ready now to explain the entire history of why the Kyoshi Warriors use war fans.
Avatar: The Last Airbender–The Promise Omnibus
The Avatar: The Last Airbender story extends far beyond just the TV show. The graphic novels not only expand the story but give a ton of flashbacks and character development.
There are multiple graphic novel series. The Promise is just the first. They do have a sequential order, but really, you can pick up any one of them and enjoy it just fine.
Jasmine Dragon Tea Set
No hot leaf juice would be complete without a tea set direct from everyone’s favorite Jasmine Dragon. This tea set comes with a pot and cup. The pot sports a bamboo handle and holds 26 oz and pairs great with the 5oz cup.
Even if you prefer a chamomile or an earl grey, I’m sure Iroh won’t mind.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: Legacy
Avatar: The Last Airbender Legacy is basically a scrapbook from Aang’s perspective as he hands it down to his son, Tenzin. It’s a tour of the world of Avatar and the people and places that make it up. Not only does this book add more details to the locations and events you already know, but it also adds additional insight into Aang’s thoughts on them.
Don’t expect huge lengthy deep dives. This book is literally written for a child, in the fiction of the book itself. Granted, that child is Tenzin, the sole heir to the Air Nomads and son of the Avatar. But he’s still just a kid.
