Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Its Last Big Patch ‘Update 2.1’ Tomorrow
CD Projekt RED gives Cyberpunk 2077 a fantastic sendoff in Update 2.1, which drops tomorrow and adds a ton to the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 shows that game launches mean nothing right now. It’s all about how you stick the landing. When the game initially launched, the hype for it outweighed the underwhelming performance. Lawsuits followed, money got involved.
But the development team at CD Projekt RED kept working. Sometimes in spite of grueling crunch. And then came Patch 1.5, which changed the game for the better, and brought back players who had left the game and swaths of new players.
Then came the excellent Edgerunners from Studio Trigger, and the trajectory of Cyberpunk changed forever. After that, Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 overhaul made the game feel like what it was meant to be. Now, with CD Projekt RED eyeing the Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, whatever form that will take, the developers are set to give Cyberpuk 2077 one last ultimate edition sendoff with update 2.1.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Update 2.1 Adds Implanted Radio, Hangouts, And More
CD Projekt RED showed off some of the new features and improvements in a new video on the Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel. And, what a ride it is. Look, your time spent in Night City may vary. But this looks like a fantastic reason to start yet another playthrough.
Here’s just some of the features we get to see. V’s new Radioport means you can listen to tunes as you wander the streets on foot.
Metro Cards are a surprising update that I had no idea I wanted to see. But when you go to metro terminals, the doors will open and you’ll actually ride the metro as you fast travel. Which is cool.
And then of course there’s a new car, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, as well as new bikes, improved bike combat, replayable car races, all adding to the vehicular mayhem in the previous overhaul from 2.0.
Also Boss Fights have been improved, which we saw in a glimpse of a menacing new Adam Smasher fight, showing off the Sandevistan, albeit not as dramatically as he did in Edgerunners.
And more importantly, hangouts with your partner. This is just a simple, romantic update that lets you hang out with whoever V is romancing at the time. It’s lovely. Night City might not be a place for happy endings, but, boy can you enjoy the ride while you’re there.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 releases tomorrow!
