MTG: Gangs of Ravnica – Heroes I’m Excited to See in ‘Ravnica Remastered’

In the city, you must fight to survive. These three heroes have risen above the rest, and I can’t wait to see them with new art.

Welcome in, Praetors and Planeswalkers! Of all the sets I’ve played in since starting my MTG journey, Ravnica was always one of my favorites. I loved the idea of a city run by the tenuous alliance of guilds, each working to further their goals while not upsetting the delicate balance. Of course, with so many conflicting plots and schemes going on behind the scenes, several agents would need to rise, and they’d need to be the best. I have a few favorites, and while they aren’t all getting the reprint treatment, one or two of my absolute faves are coming back (some from the dead).

Savra, Queen of the Golgari

My OG favorite card from the set repping my OG favorite guild, Savra deserved a lot better than she got in the lore. For a guild focused on death and rebirth, it makes sense that she would die in lore, but she was so callously replaced that it felt terrible. At least her return to form in a card is a welcome addition to my Golgari collection. I have every version of Savra they’ve printed, and I’ll happily try to get these as well. Besides my love for her, she’s just a good card. She’s an easy sac combo outlet and can clear the board quickly with just a few pieces of tech.

Massacre Girl

Another card with a powerful past, Massacre Girl has been one of my favorite cards since I discovered it. Admittedly, I was a bit late to the party with this one, but it’s hard to deny her effect on the board state. In a sacrifice deck, you’re likely to have a lot of small, low-toughness creatures. When MG hits the field, all of them will die to her effect, multiplying the impact. While I wouldn’t advise putting her in the Command Zone (that’s an excellent way to get player sniped), she’s a great trick to have in a deck that doesn’t mind dying. Rakdos and Golgari decks love her, and even Orzhov can get a kick out of her if the situation is right.

Domri Rade

The original Captain Chaos, Domri is a powerful force multiplier in ANY deck that wants to quickly put damage on the field. Bolas chose well when he picked this plucky Gruul warrior for his team, and the planeswalker abilities he brings to the table are staggering. His Ult is a game-ending buff, and if you have even a tiny measure of counter-doubling, he could land it the moment he hits the field. Also, look at that art. That’s a protagonist if I’ve ever seen one.
