Warhammer 40K: A Primaris Lt. Visits Japan And Finds Castles and More
Come and take a trip through the Land of the Rising Sun with a 40K Space Marine Primaris Lieutenant.
If you tuned in last time you know, how our story starts. In the hectic days of the Indomitus Crusade the safety of Holy Terra was utmost in Guilliman’s mind. To ensure its safety, he dispatched troops to inspect the fortifications. One such envoy was Primaris LT. Antonius aided by the trusty Guardsman Privit.
Upon arriving on Terra however, they found that due to a Warp Rift they’d be transported to the distant past of the world. Still, orders are orders, and they set out to make sure the defenses were in good shape. After touring Italy and seeing some of the origins of the Imperium, the pair hoped in a Warp Rift, hoping to end up home. Sadly for them, it simply took them across Old Terra to a new location.
For the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to Japan and seeing various castles and other sites. As is my tradition, I also took along some minis to view the trip and photograph. I figured the most fitting model to take on my travels was a ubiquitous Primaris Lt., the model soon to make up 100% of GW’s lineup. Along with him, and returning from other trips is Guardsman Privit. Here are a few of the highlights my little friends saw along the way.
Stepping out of the portal the pair found themselves near a massive mountain, in the Old Terran country of Japan.
Guardsman Privit was able to recon the area and learn the mountain was named Fuji, though he was unable to see the top.
Portals are hungry work, and the two enjoyed some local udon to build up their energy.
With full bellies, they were able to complete their scouting of the area. But the question remained, how well was the region defended in case of a Chaos attack?
In the north, Matsumoto Castle was a pretty sight in the dark.
While in the south Kumamoto Castle had been badly damaged by an earthquake, yet LT. Antonius was able to confirm that repairs were well underway and it would serve well.
Privit meanwhile approved of Matsuyama Castle’s hilltop location. It was a fine fortress.
Odawara Castle was once the largest in the nation and remains impressive to the pair.
Nothing however could really beat the splendor of Himeji Castle.
It was one of the most impressive complexes the two had found.
LT. Antonius approved of the views from the top.
Local air defense seemed to have some kind of Nid problem. Guardsman Privit thought this was because they were using swords to battle flying monsters. However LT. Antonius assured him this was how the Codex said it should be done.
The county had more than just castles to defend itself, as the pair found out at the Yamato Museum.
The centerpiece was a massive “model” of the ship.
LT. Antonius wasn’t sure what “model” meant, the ship looked normal sized to him!
In fact, he thought it might look even better as a space battleship.
The museum also had many other nice “models”.
The battleship Mikasa was another ship the two visited.
It also had an impressive “model” collection.
They seemed to span many years.
The pair also needed to make sure the region was protected from Chaos influence. The pre-Imperial fane of Fushimi-Inari seemed up to the task.
Guardsman Privit liked the layout of Itsukushima Shrine.
In Nagano they even found what appeared to be bound daemons used as an unorthodox protection.
Enoshima island not only provided a commanding view form its top.
It also housed a dragon trapped in a cave. Surely not the Dragon of Mars?
The pair saw many wonderous sites on their inspection tour, such as volcanos in Kagoshima.
Which looked stunning in the sunrise.
They traveled on trains, and boats.
And witnessed a sunset on the Inland sea.
They saw the generative power of Kurobe Dam.
And where caught in a snow storm on Mt. Tate.
It was not all hardship however. In the resort town of Yufuin they enjoyed the local onsens.
While In Kyoto they feasted on the finest sushi.
In Tokyo they marveled at the views.
Eventually after some prompting from Privit, the two comrades even enjoyed some wine and a nice bath.
In Tokyo at the Imperial Palace they found a rare breed of beasts, known as “BoLS Writers” playing some kind of game.
The region known as Akihabara was filled with many power weapons, but they all seem like things the Xenos Tau would use.
Their last feast seemed like some kind of final fantasy.
Eventfully they felt the strong pull of a certain location.
They could see once more the grand battles of the 41st Millennium calling to them. Brothers in arms, once long thought lost, appeared.
Many a grand battle took place before their eyes.
Titans clashed in anger.
And at last another strange portal opened before the pair, whisking them away to who knows where.
Thanks for joining me on this romp! Let us know where you think our little friends should head next, down in the comments!
