‘The Last Of Us Part 2: Remastered’ Brings Roguelike Gameplay to Naughty Dog’s Narrative Playground
The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered, the updated version of the PlayStation smash hit, is out now with updated graphics, gameplay, and more.
Look, you don’t need me to tell you why The Last of Us is a good game. You know it already. It won more than 300 Game of the Year awards, it concluded the story of Ellie and Joel, sort of, and it brought more of that Naughty Dog narrative that people have absolutely come to expect from a studio that got its start with a game called Math Jam and went on to make a name for themselves with a Bandicoot-based platformer.
But, the best thing about The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered isn’t just the clunky, awkward way that Remastered is appended to the end of the title. It’s the new roguelike gameplay mode, No Return, which takes the characters you love and demands that you watch them die over and over again as you try to fight your way through a procedurally generated zombie apocalypse, gaining incremental more power.
It’s really good.
