We’ve got a new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop and this one has us asking the eternal question: paper or plastic?

Welcome to yet another Tuesday and a new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop! I always look forward to Tuesdays for a few reasons and one of which is the Rumor Engine’s little mysteries. Today’s is a bit of a head scratcher for sure. But before I get into theorizing what it could be you should have a look for yourself!

Rumor Engine: Paper or Plastic?

So what do we have here? Well from the looks of this it could be a cape or a robe of some kind. However, based on the curves and the frayed edges I wonder if this is perhaps a scroll of some type. What I find curious about this image is that if it was a cape or robe there would likely be some sort of filigree on the edges. And if it’s a scroll, then wouldn’t there be writing on it?

For example, the Scriptor Mortis is writing in his book and you can see that GW painted the script on the pages. In this image, the only clue is what appears to be some sort of stain on the corner:

Maybe this is just a blank parchment that hasn’t been scribbled on just yet. Or, again, some type of cape or robe. There’s lots of instances of that in both 40k and AoS.

As an example, here’s a Space Marine Captain with Jump Pack rocking a cape with nothing fancy on it. Wouldn’t it catch fire from the Jump Pack thrusters? Ah well. In any case, this is just one of dozens of examples. Now that I think about it, this image could also be for a tabard or some other loin hanging cloth. GW could have rotated the image, too.

So is this a piece of paper? Whatever it is, it’s going to be made in plastic! Let us know what miniature you think it could be in the comments!
