‘Cuckoo’ – Hunter Schafer Prepares for a Fight in Sinister First Look
A family is haunted by a disturbing secret in Cuckoo. Check out the new chilling teaser for Neon’s new horror movie.
Neon is teaching the other studios a lesson in horror movie marketing this year with atmospheric trailers – for Immaculate and Longlegs – that get their hooks in without revealing too much. The first look at Cuckoo continues that trend.
After her mother’s death, seventeen-year-old Gretchen joins her father’s family, who have just moved to an alpine resort. What should be a peaceful time to recover turns out to be a nightmare. She finds herself having disturbing visions and being chased by a mysterious woman. Gretchen must reveal a conspiracy to save herself and her sister.
The movie was shot on 35mm, which gives it a retro visual feel. Writer/director Tilman Singer’s debut, 2018’s Luz, is an atmospheric supernatural horror drenched in blood and mystery. It looks like we’ll be getting more of that with this new movie. I’m looking forward to watching this story unravel.
