Age of Sigmar: Cities of Sigmar and Flesh-eater Courts Spearhead Pricing Breakdowns
There’s two new Spearhead boxes on the way and we’re busting out the calculator to figure out what sort of a deal you can expect for them.
Yesterday, we covered the announcement for the new Cities of Sigmar and Flesh-eater Courts Spearhead boxed sets. Now it’s time to see if we can figure out the value of each set and estimate what the savings will be.

5x Freeguild Cavaliers $65
10x Freeguild Steelhelms $55
Total Individual MSRP: $235
Spearhead: Flesh-eater Courts

10x Cryptguard $50
3x Morbheg Knights $60

Estimated Price Point
Back in January, I wrote up some theories on the price point of these new Spearhead boxed sets. My guess is that these will probably be in the $160 price range to put these in line with their 40k counter-parts. Based on the value of the contents inside the box, the Cities of Sigmar would be closer to the savings from the Spearhead: Stormcast Eternals. Comparatively, the Flesh-eater Courts isn’t that much a a deal if the price point is $160. It’s still cheaper than buying them all individually so it’s technically saving you money.
There’s also the possibility that GW does something different with these Spearhead boxes and makes them different price points. Since we haven’t seen an official price on the Stormcast Eternals box, it’s still up in the air. Could they do something more like a “pricing formula” instead of a “one price per Spearhead” like they’ve done in the past? While a formula might be more “fair” per box that’s not something they’ve done before.
What I do know is that the Vanguard boxes were all priced at $140. These new Spearheads are their updated replacements. And, typically, GW does increase the price of these types of boxed sets. The Getting Started! boxes were only $90ish, remember? So I’m expecting a price increase for these Spearheads and I think $160 is a likely price point.
Again, even at $160 both of these boxes are deal. The Cities box is a much steeper discount ($75) than the Flesh-eaters Courts ($28.50) but still worth it if you’re planning on playing either army.
We’ll have to wait and see what GW ends up doing for the actual price points for these new Spearhead boxes. In the meantime, you might want to snag whatever Vanguard boxes you’re interested in before those get pulled and replaced.
Is $160 worth it for these boxed sets? Let us know what you think in the comments.
