The Darkoath Tribes are rising up against the Sigmarite Crusade with a brand new host of miniatures and Battletome Supplement.

Over the weekend Games Workshop showcased the new Brand family Darkoath miniatures. But those were just the vanguard because there’s a whole new Army Set coming as well. The Darkoath are getting a serious set of updated miniatures with a new Army Set.

“It truly is a host – this huge launch box contains 27 miniatures, a battletome supplement, four warscroll cards, and all the tokens needed for any budding follower of the Dark Gods to re-reclaim the Realms from the Azyrite lickspittles.”

Darkoath Chieftain on Warsteed

Leading the tribe is the new Darkoath Marauder Chieftain on Warsteed. This is just one version you can build from the kit. According to GW:

“The Chieftain has numerous options – he comes with three heads, plus two for his steed and a choice of sword or axe. Whatever headgear you choose, a magnificent mane of hair cascades manfully yet artfully down that rippling bare shoulder of his. “

I’m looking forward to see what all this miniature will come with! And it’s great that he’s on top of a suitably tactical rock  to survey the battlefield, too.

Wilderfiend

The Chief might be leading the tribe but I think the Wilderfiend will be leading the charge. Look at that crazy miniature! Want some more angles? I know I do!

“Wilderfiends are – both literally and figuratively – beasts in combat, setting about with their flesh-tearing maw and razor-sharp claws. The miniature comes with a cavalcade of cosmetic choices, including heads, tusks, trophies, and horns. These are not friendly fellows.”

These once-kin monsters are going to be a nice boon for the Darkoath Army. I can’t wait to see the stats on this one and hope it’s packing quite the punch in combat!

Darkoath Marauders

The old school Chaos Marauders were about due for an update and it looks like it’s finally here — in the form of new Darkoath Marauder miniatures! Below are a look at the new units but also know that spears are just one option.

“Darkoath Marauders can wield spears or a variety of one-handed raider weapons, and they may be joined by a champion, musician, and icon bearer. There are five male bodies and five female, with over a dozen shields and 30 different heads to make each raiding force unique.”

This is a big update for a core unit and they look poised to be a useful tool in the Slaves to Darkness army overall.

Darkoath Fellriders

Along with an update to the infantry the Chaos Marauder Horsemen are about to get a nice update with new Darkoath Fellriders. This unit is shown with spears but again you’ll be able to choose a variety of options when building them.

“This is a versatile kit with a variety of heads, shields, peytrals, and horsey face-masks, plus a choice of javelins or blades for the whole unit – and parts to build a champion, a musician, and an icon bearer.”

Battletome Supplement: Darkoath

Alongside the new miniatures there will also be a new Battletome Supplement so you can use all these new Darkoath units. You’ll be able to build out an entire Darkoath Army if you are so inclined. Also note that the Darkoath are followers of Chaos Undivided and are part of the wider Slaves to Darkness army — so you’ll be able to slot them right in.

It’s a 28 page booklet that comes in the box. There’s some additional goodies that will only be a part of this set as well. The Battletome Supplement will be available as a free PDF shortly after launch.

This is a great surprise addition to the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar range, especially for the Slaves to Darkness army. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on these models and their rules!

Now, I just need to scrounge up the rest of those Darkoath releases…
