“Do as I Say”: Get Post-Apocalyptic With This Furiosa Closet Cosplay
With this Mad Max: Fury Road-inspired Furiosa closet cosplay, we don’t need another hero.
The iconic post-apocalyptic Mad Max series continues with the upcoming Furiosa installment. Mad Max has always been popular with BoLS readers, and we’re waxing poetic about costumes from past films as we prepare for its release.
In the last film, Mad Max: Fury Road, audiences were introduced to the fierce desert Amazon known as Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron. Furiosa’s singleminded dedication to saving lives won audiences over and inspired tons of cosplay recreations. Let’s build a Furiosa closet cosplay to celebrate the upcoming show!
Furiosa Closet Cosplay: The Shirt
The base layer here is pretty irrelevant. It’s all about how you weather/distress it. Furiosa is constantly rolling through muck and dirt, so roll this bad boy through some coffee to stain it up and weather it. Go with something fitted and you’ll have an easy time putting on your top layers.
Furiosa Closet Cosplay: The Pants
Furiosa is an action hero at her core, so you’ll want pants that make it easy to move, bend, and butt-kick. Distressing it just like the top will create cohesion with the look. You can go with any old raggedy pants you have in the closet already, as long as you muck it up.
Furiosa Closet Cosplay: The War Belt
Furiosa’s war belt can be achieved in a few different ways. You could use a scarf wrapped around the waist and covered in a few strategic belts (think Squall from Final Fantasy VIII or LuLu from Final Fantasy X). An actual war belt is another option- a 3-5 inch wide belt meant to protect the kidneys in battle. You could also just drape some belts on that you have in the closet and call it a day.
Furiosa Closet Cosplay: The Boots
Hey, look! Another cosplay that requires a boot. I can’t stop, and I won’t stop. Boots are a practical choice for cosplay and fashion, and that’s all there is to it.
Furiosa Closet Cosplay: The Prosthetic
Furiosa’s prosthetic arm is a really groovy accessory that’s hard to fake off the shelf. The easiest route is to wear something like this: a shoulder/arm rig that simulates the same lines. It’ll be easy to wear out and about as well as a full cosplay would be. That’s the point of closet cosplay!
Oh hey! BoLS might make a little dolla-dolla if you decide to buy these items. We need that money to buy raw meat to feed to our carnivorous plant from outer space. If we don’t feed him, he’ll turn on us.
