Games Workshop Rumor Engine: ‘The Bloody Blade’
The Games Workshop Rumor Engine is back to showing off weapons for this month and this time they are going with a sword.
It’s time for the Rumor Engine to taunt us once more with a image. At the start of March, the Rumor Engine crew teased that they would be showcasing weapons. Now, on this Tuesday, we’ve got a new one to mull over. It’s a sword! That much we can tell. Have a look for yourself.
“Alright, no funny business this week, we said we’ll give you a weapon and – spoiler alert – we’re going back to basics with a sword. You can’t go wrong with swords. “
Rumor Engine ‘The Bloody Blade’
My immediate gut reaction is vampire. They have a history of models with blood on their weapons.
However, the rest of the Rumor Engine texts jokes about this sword being “wet” and it got me thinking that maybe it’s not blood. It’s also curious that the blade is curved at the top and has a groove in the middle, too. That’s a curious design.
Old World Empire Greatswords used a couple different types of Greatswords. In particular flamberge swords which had lots of curves. Could we be seeing some updated designs for a new unit of Greatswords?
We’re also only getting to see the top half-ish of the weapon. There’s a possibility that the lower half could have some “power weapon” additions to it. I don’t want to rule out the 40k side of the house either.
So this is where we are now — stuck and needing more info. If you’ve got any guesses we’d love to see them in the comments. This is a strange one for sure. While it is a sword, we don’t know the substance on the blade and we don’t have a clear idea of what the hilt could be or who’s wielding this one. Let the mystery commence!
If that is water, they really should clean the blade before it rusts…
