D&D – Solasta: Crown of the Magister Goes Tabletop With New 5E Campaign Rulebook
Tactical Adventures, developers of Solasta: Crown of the Magister, will soon be releasing a tabletop campaign book through Modiphius.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister was one of the most faithful 5E video game adaptations out there. With a lot of verticality in their encounter maps, and a focus on using lighting and a good tactical grid, it was as crunchy, 5E dungeon-crawlery as it gets. As part of the game’s Kickstarter campaign, developers Tactical Adventures also released a tabletop campaign rulebook for D&D 5th Edition.
And now, to celebrate the game’s 3rd anniversary, Tactical Adventures and Modiphius are teaming up to release a revised version of the campaign rulebook, previously a Kickstarter exclusive. The new campaign book will roll in new subclasses introduced in the DLC for Crown of the Magister, as well as the whole world of Solasta with plenty of other player options mixed in.
What options, you ask? Let’s find out.
Solasta Campaign Rulebook
A thousand years have passed since the Cataclysm. The Manacalon Empire has been all but forgotten. Many seek the lost secrets that lie at the heart of its ruins: powerful magic wielded only by the ancient masters of old. But now, evil forces seek to harness this power unless brave heroes stand to unite against them…
Roll for initiative and discover the shattered world of Solasta with the Solasta Campaign Rulebook. This revised edition presents the full majesty and depth of the popular 5E-based Solasta: Crown of the Magister computer game and includes all of its unique archetypes for the first time! Explore ruins and dungeons for legendary treasures, learn the truth of the cataclysm that broke the world, and stop it all from happening again. You make the choices. Dice decide your destiny.
One of the more exciting things about this book is that it is packed with new subclasses. It had to be, of course, because Solasta was based on the 5th Edition SRD, unlike Baldur’s Gate, which used the full license of D&D. Which means that in BG3, for instance, you can play an Oath of the Ancients Paladin. They don’t appear in Solasta, only the “default” subclass for each class was available. So Tactical Adventures made their own. Which you’ll get the full store of in this revised version of the book.
You’ll also get the full run of the setting, including a bunch of new monsters:
- The complete history of the world of Solasta and a breakdown of its major religions.
- The first ever realm-by-realm guide to the continent of Ferandragh, and an in-depth examination of the city of Caer Cyflen and the Badlands.
- Full rules for Solasta’s playable species and over 40 new subclasses, including the Path of Stone Barbarian, Swift Blade Ranger, and Court Mage Wizard.
- A bestiary of deadly foes including the cunning Sorr-Akkath, dread Defilers, and more!
